On Celebrating the Life of Bill Waters: He took full advantage of the manifold joys, beauties, and pleasures with which the world has been so plentifully enriched

He was also a man of many hobbies that came and went through different phases of life. As a youngster, he enjoyed activities such as hunting, camping and drag racing which morphed into a lifelong love for tinkering with his dream car, a ’63 Austin Healey.  Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, as well as both cross country and downhill skiing. He also devoted considerable passion toward target shooting and ice hockey with the UBC Old Birds.

Bill, the husband of my cousin Joanne, died last week. I only met him once, during a family reunion in Vancounver, Canada, in September 2009. But he was a very memorable person, humble, physically active, highly accomplished, and with a great many interests. He lived life to the fullest. -gw

Bill and Joanne were the hosts for the Haskins reunion. Their home on the Vancouver North Shore was our base for exploring the area. You could tell what Bill loved by what was in the home and by where he and Joanne took us: To the bay by trail from their home,  to the salmon hatchery also nearby, to the anthropology museum at the University of British Columbia where he once taught, to the mighty Fraser River, to a superb Chinese restaurant, and up to Whistler. Born and educated in the heartland of the United States, this man loved his adopted home city and province in Canada.

...deny [not] anyone the legitimate right and privilege to derive the fullest advantage and benefit from the manifold joys, beauties, and pleasures with which the world has been so plentifully enriched by an All-Loving Creator.
