Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931), poet, artiist and mystic,  was born this day, January 6, 1883.

Gibran's book, The Prophet was the most widely read book of the twentieth century according to Baha'i biographer Suheil Bushrui.

Of 'Abdu'l-Baha, whose portrait Gibran did in New York on April 19, 1912 while 'Abdu'l-Baha sat for him, the artist said:

"He is a very great man. He is complete. There are worlds in his soul....."

Of the Writings of Baha'u'llah, Gibran said they were "...the most stupendous literature that was ever written."
