Mike Longo, a former protege of Oscar Peterson is best known as the long time pianist and musical director of the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet. Here he leads his big band the New York State of the Art Jazz Ensemble in a concert from the John Birks Gillespie Auditorium in New York's Baha'i Center on 12/01/09. This is an original composition and arrangement by Mike called "The Painting." Concerts are held there every Tuesday with world class jazz artists in honor of Dizzy Gillespie. The theater is located at 53 E. 11th St. between B'way and University Pl. Prices are kept low to encourage interest in this type of music. Gen. admission is $15.00 and students-$10,00
