On Beloved Scriptural Passages: Jess' S'Mores for the Soul

Last week Jess of Rambles, Reviews and Rants blogged on some of her favorite scriptural verses:

Yes, when you seek Me with all your heart, you will find Me with you, says the Lord, and I will change your lot. Jeremiah 29:13-14

Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior. Psalms 25:5

I have loved you with and everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. Jeremiah 31:3

As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world but to save it. John 12:47

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness still. 1 John 2:9

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

All who love me, I also love. And those who seek me find me. Proverbs 8:17

Jess emailed the other day that she has requested to participate in one of the Ruhi Study Circles offered by the Baha'is in her area. What great news! She believes in feeding her soul, as one of her recent posts is a clear indication. Here is an excerpt from "S'Mores for the Soul."

Imagine that you have three things: Graham Cracker, chocolate (Hershey's for me please!) and marshmallow. All three are very different. Graham crackers are crunchy and crumbly, chocolate is smooth, rich and creamy, and marshmallows are sticky and gooey. But, they are all basically the same thing when broken down- simple carbohydrates. Their ingredients and their characteristics are all different but they are ultimately the same.
Now, compare the three to religions:

Graham Cracker = Judaism (birth of monotheism)

Chocolate = Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc.

Marshmallow = Baha'i

...

So, it is my opinion that God wants to be in harmony and have a relationship with His greatest creation- humans. We have many opportunities and paths that will lead to Him to choose from but ultimately, like the graham cracker, the chocolate and the marshamallow, all the components can be broken down into the same base form. While they appear quite different on the surface and have different properties, colors and flavors, ultimately God lies at the heart of each. It is up to each truth seeker to find their path and to grow their relationship with God however they can.
