On Kat Key's 'Where the Fire Is': Get inside this music

Some people are just meant to make music. They may do other things, have other accomplishments, but they always come back to creating songs. Katharine – with an “a” – Key is one of those people.

The title track may be the most exquisite song on an album full of exquisite and interesting songs. It features Katharine's piano, her first instrument. The text of the song comes entirely from the Baha'i Writings, as do two others on the album.

Katharine has a beautiful and expressive voice. This is sophisticated music and an absolutely first class production. Kat's voice and piano is complemented by the cello of Elise Cuffy, the string bass of Ian Rafalak, and drums by Keny Ruyter who also served as album producer, with Kelly Snook doing the final mixing. There are some background harmonies that add to the emotional punch. But it's certain qualities of Kat's voice that make this song feel so personal and intimate.
